TGS-NOPEC Expands Partnership with Polarcus Adira in Barents Sea

Jun 01, 2015 11:04

TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company (TGS) has officially secured a letter of award (LOA), marking the extension of its contract for the seismic survey vessel, the 'Polarcus Adira.' This collaboration dates back to April 2015 when TGS partnered with Polarcus to initiate a 3D seismic data collection project covering a vast 3,000 square kilometers in the southeast Barents Sea. On June 1, TGS took a significant step to renew the contract, facilitating an additional survey over another 3,000 square kilometers in the Norwegian Barents Sea, set to commence upon the completion of the initial survey. The LOA signed earlier this April allows for an impressive potential expansion, enabling the contract to extend up to 7,000 square kilometers of seismic exploration in this critical maritime region.

Polarcus Adira Sets Sail for US Gulf of Mexico in Historic Charter

Sep 27, 2014 08:26

The Polarcus Adira, a cutting-edge 3D seismic vessel, is currently en route from Las Palmas to the US Gulf of Mexico, where it is set to begin a six-month charter with TGS. This vessel is engineered with state-of-the-art maritime technology aimed at reducing environmental impact, showcasing Polarcus’s commitment to sustainable operations. Notably, it holds the prestigious Triple-E(TM) rating from DNV-GL, the foremost ship and maritime classification authority, reflecting its top-tier environmental and energy efficiency standards. Rolf Ronningen, CEO of Polarcus, expressed enthusiasm about this landmark project, stating, "This will be our first undertaking in the US, marking the beginning of what we hope will be many more opportunities in this significant market. We are eager to demonstrate our advanced capabilities and uphold our unique environmental principles while delivering a high-quality dataset for TGS's multi-client program." The seismic survey, which spans an impressive 11,500 square kilometers, will utilize the Polarcus Adira's advanced technology. The vessel will tow a comprehensive array of solid streamers, each measuring ten kilometers, along with a specialized source array that will direct acoustic energy vertically to ensure precise imaging. The focus of this operation is to capture detailed insights into the regional stratigraphy and deep basin structures prevalent in the deep-water Central Gulf of Mexico. This endeavor is part of Polarcus's ongoing project backlog, previously disclosed through the Oslo Stock Exchange, further cementing the company's role in the advancement of environmentally responsible marine exploration.

Damen Shiprepair Den Helder Completes Around-the-Clock Refurbishments on Polarcus Adira

Dec 04, 2012 09:12

Damen Shiprepair Den Helder has successfully completed extensive modification work on the seismic vessel 'Polarcus Adira,' which docked at their facility on November 2, 2012. The project involved critical upgrades to the Seismic Control Room, including improvements in insulation and lighting. Additionally, the team installed Barovani Stands and Reel Frames and reconfigured the AC unit's cables and pipelines in the Engine Control Room. Remarkably, the harsh weather conditions—including heavy rain and storm winds—did not hinder the comprehensive 80-hour refurbishment process. A dedicated crew operated in two 12-hour shifts to ensure the timely execution of the tasks at hand. Before the vessel's departure, the Master and Management of the M.V. 'Polarcus Adira' expressed their gratitude to all personnel involved in the project. Following the successful completion of the work, the ship is set to sail to Durban, with its next destination being Port Louis, expected on December 4.
