Cruise ship to accommodate Danish troops in Greenland
The Danish Defence has chartered the 'Ocean Endeavour' in order to provide accommodation for Danish and international soldiers participating in Exercise Arctic Endurance in Greenland, easing pressure on hotel capacity in Nuuk during busy periods. The 'Ocean Endeavour' sailed from Ouistreham on Jan 23 and arrived in Nuuk on Feb 1 at 3.15 p.m. UTC, after sailing approximately 2,176 nautical miles across the North Atlantic. The ship will serve as a floating accommodation platform from early February. The vessel previously operated as a polar expedition vessel in Arctic and Antarctic regions, making her well suited for operations in Greenland’s challenging environment.

Cruise ship suffered ice damage
The "Ocean Endeavour" sustained damage from ice near the South Shetland Islands on Nov 15, 2015, at 3:30 a.m. Nov 15. The vessel was carrying 167 passengers from 24 countries, all of them remained safely onboard. On Nov 17 they were disembarked in Ushuaia as scheduled. While the ship master performed temporary repairs to ensure the vessel's safe passage north, the cruise ship will need to undergo repairs and a Maritime Authority inspection so that the ship's next sailing had to be cancelled. Passengers booked on the sailing were given a full refund, and the company will also cover flight costs not reimbursed by travel insurance, up to $500 per person.
