The CROSS Réunion coordinated the medevac of an Indonesian crew member of the "Le Mascareignes 3", who suffered from severe stomach aches. He was disembarked on the island of Kerguelen on Jan 4, 2017. After a first medical consultation and in conjunction with the Maritime Medical Advisory Center (MCCC) and the District Medical Officer, it was decided to repatriate him as soon as possible to La Réunion. He was disembarked onto the the research vessel "La Curieuse", and it would take about a dozen days to get there, depending on weather conditions. In order to secure the medical evacuation, the deputy physician of the Base of Port-aux-Français will also be embarked and will be repatriated later by the first available means.
