These vessels, which are set to transport approximately 130,000 tons of grain and ore, have made noteworthy landings as the situation evolves. On September 22, 2023, the bulk carrier 'Azara' docked in Yuzniy during the evening hours, alongside the Chinese vessel 'Ying Hao 01', which also reached the same port. The stranded Filipino crew aboard the 'Angelic Power' in Hong Kong is on the verge of reuniting with their families as repatriation efforts are now underway. Recent updates indicate that court proceedings are progressing, and necessary crew changes are being initiated. A custodian appointed by the Guangzhou Maritime Court has stepped in to oversee the vessel, bringing in a Chinese crew to familiarize themselves with the operations of the ship to meet the requisite safe manning standards. This positive turn of events follows the crew's 17-month ordeal since the Guangzhou Maritime Court detained the vessel amid a financial dispute involving the cargo receiver, Guangzhou South China Coal Trade Center Co, and the ship's owners, Angeliki Dynamic Investment Corp. A key development occurred on June 18 when a video conference facilitated communication between the Guangzhou Maritime Court and the Filipino crew members. Following this, the court is expected to issue the necessary documentation for finalizing the case registration in the coming days, paving the way for the crew's long-awaited repatriation. The crew, which includes 13 Filipinos and two Greeks, has endured significant hardships, citing issues such as inadequate food supplies, lack of medical provisions, expired insurance, and unpaid wages since January 2021.
