On March 6, 2019, Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation marked a significant milestone by christening two ultra-large container vessels, YM Warranty and YM Wellspring, at the Imabari shipyard in Japan. These impressive ships, each capable of carrying 14,000 TEU, were constructed by Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and are part of a series chartered from Shoei Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. YM Wellspring and its sister ship, YM Warranty, represent the fourth and fifth vessels in a fleet that includes the recently delivered YM Wellbeing, YM Wonderland, and YM Wisdom. Designed for optimal efficiency, these vessels boast an impressive nominal capacity of 14,220 TEU and are equipped with 1,000 reefer plugs, showcasing their ability to transport temperature-sensitive cargoes. With a length overall (LOA) of 366.44 meters, a beam of 51.2 meters, and a summer draft of 15.524 meters, YM Wellspring is built for stability and performance. Moreover, the vessels are capable of cruising at speeds of up to 23 knots, making them formidable assets in the competitive maritime sector.
