WILMINGTON, Calif. – A car theft suspect tragically lost his life after plummeting from a gantry crane at the Port of Los Angeles following a reckless chase through Carson, Long Beach, and San Pedro. The incident began around 3:10 p.m. when the Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Division initiated a pursuit of a white Subaru SUV. The police momentarily lost track of the vehicle as it sped through various streets and navigated the Harbor (110) Freeway, often veering into oncoming traffic and scraping against K-rails.
