Working Conditions Aboard the Ym-Enlightenment

On January 5, 2015, Yang Ming celebrated the naming of its latest container vessel, the YM Enlightenment, during a special ceremony at the CSBC Kaohsiung Shipyard. This impressive vessel, boasting a capacity of 4,662 TEUs, is the third in a series of five eco-conscious ships constructed by CSBC CORP., TAIWAN. Measuring 259 meters in length and 37.3 meters in width, YM Enlightenment is equipped with 400 reefer plugs, making it ideal for transporting temperature-sensitive cargo. The ship features a draft of 12.8 meters and can achieve cruising speeds of up to 22.9 knots. Yang Ming is committed to environmental sustainability and aims to reduce the average age of its fleet with the induction of newer, more efficient ships. These advancements not only help minimize operational costs but also significantly improve energy consumption, reinforcing Yang Ming's dedication to environmental stewardship. The YM Enlightenment will enhance Yang Ming's service capabilities, being deployed in the CPX Service (China - Pakistan Express). This new vessel will navigate a meticulously planned route, stopping at key ports including Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Singapore, Karachi, Mundra, Port Kelang, and Hong Kong, before returning to Shanghai.
