On April 15, 2017, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the tanker 'Alheera' sent out a distress signal, reporting a pirate attack in the Gulf of Aden, about 170 miles east of Aden, Yemen. In a fortunate turn of events, the Chinese Navy frigate 'Yulin,' which had recently participated in the rescue of the cargo vessel 'OS 35' from hijackers, was in close proximity and quickly responded to the emergency. The frigate deployed its helicopter to counter the threat posed by a small boat carrying five individuals, who were reportedly firing shots at the tanker. Fortunately, the attack was successfully aborted, thanks to the swift action of the Chinese naval forces.
