In a strategic move to enhance its shipping capabilities, Greece-based Eletson Corporation has completed the purchase of two MR1 product tankers, Morgane and Meliora Cogito, from fellow Greek firm Product Shipping and Trading, which operates under the Oceanbulk group. The deal, valued at $37 million for both vessels, marks a significant addition to Eletson's fleet. Each of these sister ships has a deadweight tonnage (dwt) of 37,600 and was constructed in South Korea in 2006. Notably, these new acquisitions will serve as the smallest vessels within Eletson's current lineup, which predominantly features larger LR1 and LR2 product tankers. Just last month, Eletson expanded its fleet even further by acquiring two LR1 tankers from Scorpio Tankers for $44 million, namely the Senatore and Noemi, both with a tonnage of 72,500 dwt and built in 2004. Additionally, the company procured another LR1 vessel, Anna Victoria, from Sweden’s Gotland Rederi for $22.3 million, featuring a capacity of 75,000 dwt and also built in 2004. Eletson’s recent acquisitions highlight its commitment to growing its tanker fleet and solidifying its position in the maritime industry.
