In a notable move within the maritime sector, China's Winning has made headlines by snapping up the Japanese-built Newcastlemax vessel, Shin Heiryu, for an impressive $10.4 million. This purchase marks the firm's seventh addition to its capesize fleet in just seven months. Winning, which is based in Singapore, has been actively expanding its fleet since February, emphasizing its strategy to enhance its capabilities in bauxite shipping. The 13-year-old Shin Heiryu was previously under the ownership of Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK). This acquisition is Winning's first reported transaction in the sales and purchase market since late May, reinforcing its strong preference for Japanese-built capesize vessels, having acquired five such ships this year alone.
