Fatigue caused grounding off Hiddensee
On Dec 21, 2014 at 01:23 a.m. the "Fast Julia", enroute from Antwerp to Kaliningrad, ran aground northwest of Hiddensee at the l/h Dornbusch. The ship got off with own means and was ordered to enter the Ferry port of Sassnitz/ Mukran for inspections. The ship berthed on Dec 22 at 07:26 a.m. at berth 6 where Police boarded the ship and prohibited it from sailing. The cause of the grounding was fatigue of the helmsman. Drug tests were negative. He had to pay a safety fine of 228,50 Euro. In the run of the day a Port State Control was carried out. The ship left the port of Mukran again on Dec 22 at 7 p.m. bound for Kaliningrad with an ETA of Dec 23, 9 p.m.
