On January 28, 2025, the cargo vessel 'Victress' found itself detained in Kiel due to a staggering 45 deficiencies identified during an inspection. Out of these, ten were deemed serious enough to warrant immediate detention. Notable issues included: 1) Overloading conditions compromising water and weather tightness; 2) Damage to cargo and hatchway areas; 3) Poor maintenance of hatchway covers, such as portable tarpaulins; 4) Corrosion affecting windows, side scuttles, and deadlights; 5) Inoperative emergency power sources, specifically the emergency generator; 6) Neglected fire detection and alarm systems; 7) Inadequate ventilation for fire safety; 8) Non-compliance of fire doors and openings in fire-resisting divisions; 9) Insufficient training for bridge operations impacting navigation safety; and 10) Issues regarding the International Safety Management (ISM) certificate. The 'Victress' had docked at Kiel's North Port on January 27 following an incident, and was finally released on February 14. The vessel then set course for Rostock, successfully arriving on February 17.
