Fishermen Injured in Blaze on Longliner 'Txopituna' in Manta
In a distressing incident on November 30, 2021, two fishermen suffered smoke inhalation injuries aboard the longliner 'Txopituna' while it was anchored in Manta Bay. The fire erupted around noon at Manta Port and took approximately an hour for firefighters to bring it under control. Emergency services promptly transferred the injured individuals to a local hospital for treatment. The firefighting efforts were supported by the Manta Port Terminal personnel and the Ministry of Health. Following the incident, the Manta Port Authority initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
