On March 16, 2025, at approximately 5:40 p.m., a fuel spill incident occurred during a bunkering operation involving the 'Kanway Global' at Taiwan's Keelung port, resulting in the release of roughly 100 liters of fuel. The leak transpired while the vessel was being connected for fuel transfer, leading to contamination of several ships including 'TS Pusan', 'TS Surabaya', and 'YM Immense', as well as three pilot boats and associated mooring lines. In response to the spill, crews initiated cleaning and containment measures utilizing pressure washers as an immediate, albeit temporary, fix. Oil containment booms and absorbent materials were strategically deployed to effectively curtail the environmental impact and restore normal port activities. The affected pilot vessels are now undergoing drydocking for comprehensive clean-up operations, while the other vessels involved have consequently deferred their scheduled departures from the port.
