On June 18, 2015, the tanker 'SCF Khibiny' encountered difficulties while navigating from Kerch to Pascagoula, getting stuck in shallow waters in the Ahırkapı district of Istanbul at 10:09 a.m. The fully loaded vessel, carrying 150,000 tonnes of crude oil, had been warned by authorities about the impending shallow waters before it ran aground. Fortunately, the Istanbul vessel traffic center reported no pollution incidents. In response to the situation, the lifeboat 'Kıyı Emniyeti' and the tugboat 'Kurtarma 7' were dispatched to assist the stranded tanker.
