Ferry banned from sailing after allision
**Title: Tinker Bell Ferry Grounded After Allision with Skåne in Trelleborg** In a recent maritime incident, the ferry *Tinker Bell* has been barred from sailing after colliding with the *Skåne*, which was docked at the quay in Trelleborg, Sweden. The allision occurred shortly after *Tinker Bell* departed from its shipyard in Klaipeda, with an inspection by the Swedish Transport Agency revealing the vessel was in an unseaworthy condition. As of March 23, the ferry has remained idle in Trelleborg’s port for ten days, following the Swedish Transport Agency's enforcement of an operational ban due to a series of safety and technical deficiencies. The agency identified 13 issues pertaining to fire protection systems, including critical failures in engine room safety measures. Among the highlighted concerns are shortcomings in emergency power supplies and the maintenance and inspection protocols for life-saving appliances. Furthermore, the inspection revealed serious deficiencies regarding environmental standards and onboard working conditions, including health and safety protections and adequate accommodations for the crew, which ultimately led to the sailing ban as per the Ship Safety Act. The *Tinker Bell* will not be permitted to resume its voyages until all identified deficiencies have been corrected. Fault of steering system thought to be behind allision
**Title: Steering System Failure Suspected in Trelleborg Allision Incident** On March 13, the "Skåne," Stena Line's ferry, triumphantly resumed its routes following a significant collision, although the condition of the "Tinker Bell" remains uncertain as it remained docked in Trelleborg as of March 17. The damage to the bow of the "Skåne" was evident, yet authorities and the classification society found no safety-related defects during their thorough inspections of the vessel. Interestingly, the "Tinker Bell" had just completed repairs at a shipyard in Klaipėda, Lithuania, and was devoid of passengers during the incident. It was preparing to re-enter service on the popular route between Trelleborg and Travemünde. Swedish authorities are diligently investigating the specific details surrounding the allision, including conducting hull surveys of both ferries with the help of divers. Preliminary findings suggest that a technical malfunction in the steering system of the TT-Line ferry may have played a pivotal role in this unfortunate event. Allision in Trelleborg
**Title: Collision Incident in Trelleborg Port** On March 11, 2026, at 1:30 p.m., a collision occurred in the port of Trelleborg involving the ferries 'Skåne' and 'Tinker Bell'. Emergency services were promptly dispatched to the area, with the Coast Guard en route to assist. The 'Skåne', which had arrived from Rostock, was securely docked at the quay when it was struck by the 'Tinker Bell', which had just come in from Klaipeda following maintenance work. The allision happened when the 'Tinker Bell', navigating into the port, made contact with the 'Skåne's' port side bow. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or oil spills as a result of the incident. However, the 'Skåne' did sustain considerable damage to its bow above the waterline, prompting the call for divers to investigate for any potential issues below the surface. By 4:30 p.m., all passengers and vehicles aboard the 'Skåne' had been safely disembarked. Preliminary investigations indicated that the allision was due to a technical malfunction on the 'Tinker Bell', which lost steering control. Further inquiries into the specifics surrounding the incident are underway. TT-Line is currently collaborating with the relevant authorities and port representatives to aid in the investigation. As of March 12, both vessels remained stationary in Trelleborg. A 27-year-old man jumped from the 'Peter Pan' on June 26, 2022, when the ferry was approaching the port of Szczecin. The man was pulled out of the water by the crew of the motor boat 'Magda'. He was transported by an ambulance to the Władysław IV wharf near the Harbor Master's Office. The Maritime Office in Szczecin was not conducting any proceedings in this case.
Truck was leaking hazardous substance
The corrosive substance iron chloride has leaked from tank truck on the "Peter Pan" on Aug 16, 2019, just after 8 a.m. in the port of Trelleborg where the ferry had arrived from Travemuende. A crew member on its routine watch remarked the fluid leaking from the tank. It was unclear how much iron chloride had leaked. The remediation work was started directly by the staff and was taken over by the rescue service. Two forces from the rescue service in Trelleborg wereon site. In addition, chemical units from other locations were called. National rescue resources for dangerous substances attended the site. The effort was expected to last for some hours. Another tank truck was on its way onto which the iron chloride will be pumped over. No one was injured in connection with the leak. All 159 passengers and 112 truck drivers have been safely evacuated from board. The ferry left the port of Trelleborg again at 3.15 p.m. and arrived back in Travemünde at 11.15 p.m. Swedish reports with photos: https://www.svt.se/nyheter/lokalt/skane/jarnklorid-lacker-fran-lastbil-pa-farja-i-trelleborg https://www.gp.se/nyheter/sverige/fr%C3%A4tande-%C3%A4mne-l%C3%A4cker-p%C3%A5-f%C3%A4rja-1.17192463
Ferry out of service after fire
On July 9, 2019, at 6 p.m. a fire broke out in the engine room of the "Peter Pan" due to a mechanical damage of one of the five diesel generators. The ships own fire extinguishing systems could quickly tackle the fire which was out at 6.30 p.m, and the damage remained limited to this area. There were 271 passengers and a crew of 51 on board the ferry which was 5-6 nautical miles NE of Travemünde at that time, serving the route Rostock-Travemünde-Trelleborg and heading to Travemünde. There was strong smoke development on board. The ship initially resumed its voyage, but then its main engine failed, so that two tugs had to be called which reached the ferry around midnight. On June 10 at 2.30 a.m. the ship was berthed at the Scandinavia Quay in Travemünde. All passengers had remained uninjured and were safely disembarked. Those without car were accomodated in hotels in Travemünde by the TT Line. The other continued their voyage. Passengers booked on the ferry on July 11 were rerouted to other ferries. The "Peter Pan" remained at the quay by July 12. The amount of damage had yet to be assessed. The water police Travemünde launched an investigation. The ferry left the Scandinavia Quay in Travemünde again on July 21 at 10.10 p.m. and arrived in Trelleborg on July 2 at 7.30 a.m.
