The cargo ship 'Lyubov' has been immobilized in Aviles since December 19, 2016, with 4,500 tons of fertilizers onboard. The vessel, manned by a 14-member crew from Ukraine and Russia, faced significant challenges stemming from disputes between the owner and the charterer. For an extended period, the ship was deemed abandoned as the crew struggled to establish contact with the owner, relying on support from the local Red Cross for their needs. Fortunately, the owner has now resurfaced to address the issues and intends to renew the charter contract. During a recent port state control inspection, several detainable deficiencies were identified that are expected to be rectified promptly. With these improvements underway, the 'Lyubov' is anticipated to depart the port in approximately two weeks.
