In a significant development for the maritime industry, Malaysia-based Bumi Armada has successfully negotiated a sale agreement with Century Energy Services Limited (CESL) from Nigeria, finalizing the transaction for the Armada Perdana Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit at a price of $40 million. This particular FPSO has been inactive in Nigeria since 2022, following its contract suspension. CESL plans to utilize the Armada Perdana in a field operation off the coast of Nigeria. The FPSO had previously been under charter by Erin Petroleum Nigeria, a subsidiary of Erin Energy Corporation, which entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in the United States back in April 2018. This strategic move marks a new chapter for Bumi Armada as it continues to navigate the evolving energy landscape.

Bumi Armada Berhad, a prominent offshore services company, has been compelled to halt operations of its Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading unit, Armada Perdana, located in Nigeria's Oyo field following legal developments on land. Erin Petroleum Nigeria Ltd (EPNL), the lease operator, reported a 'force majeure event' necessitating the need for an organized shutdown of the vessel. EPNL, which is a subsidiary of Houston-based Erin Energy, informed Bumi Armada that all crude oil produced and stored on the Armada Perdana has been seized under the direction of a court in Lagos, Nigeria. It is important to note that the underlying legal proceedings involve a third party and do not directly concern Bumi Armada, as clarified by the company.
