New LNG Carrier Taitar No. 4 Launched at Kawasaki Shipyard
On September 17, 2010, an exciting naming ceremony took place at the Kawasaki Shipbuilding Corporation's Sakaide shipyard, marking a significant milestone for the LNG shipping industry. The vessel, named Taitar No. 4, is a collaborative project among three partners: NYK, CPC Corporation of Taiwan, and Mitsui & Co. Ltd. Taitar No. 4 holds joint ownership with CPC holding 45%, while NYK and Mitsui each own 27.5%. This remarkable ship is set to be completed by October 1, 2010. It is the final addition to a fleet of four sister vessels, joining Taitar No. 1, Taitar No. 2, and Taitar No. 3. Together, these vessels will facilitate the transportation of approximately 3 million tons of LNG from Qatar to Taiwan, ensuring energy supply through long-term contracts spanning 23 to 24 years.
