Ferry grounded off Skopelos
**Title: Incident Report: Ferry Grounds Near Skopelos** On April 30, 2026, around midday, the Port Authority of Skopelos received an urgent report from the Captain of the ferry 'Superstar II'. The vessel encountered an unfortunate grounding incident while attempting to navigate into the port of Skopelos. The ferry was carrying 227 passengers, along with vehicles and cargo, while operating its regular route linking the port of Volos with the islands of Skiathos, Skopelos, and Alonissos. Fortunately, the ferry was refloated with assistance from the tugboat 'Agios Evdokimos' and successfully docked at Skopelos without further complications. All passengers and vehicles were safely disembarked upon arrival. Initially, the Skopelos Port Department, part of the Skiathos Port Authority, imposed a ban on the vessel’s departure. However, once the ferry presented a valid certificate of class maintenance and seaworthiness from the regulatory classification society, it was cleared to continue its journey to Alonissos. In light of the incident, a preliminary investigation has been initiated by the Skopelos Port Authority to assess the circumstances surrounding the grounding event.

On the evening of July 30, 2025, the Port Authority of Patmos was informed that upon the arrival of the "Superstar II" at the port of Patmos en route from Mykonos, a Greek crew member felt unwell and needed to be medevace. The assistant was transported by an ambulance to the Patmos Health Center, for the provision of first aid, while the ship continued its scheduled route for Leros, Kalymnos and Kos.
Popular Color Line ferry sold to Seajet
The 'Color Viking' after serving many years on the Sandefjord-Strömstad route, has been sold to the Greek shipping company Seajet. In 2000, the ship was chartered by Color Line with a purchase option, and deployed on the popular route, where it served for 22 years until Nov 20, 2022, when it sailed its last trip between Sandefjord and Strömstad. The high energy prices and weakened framework conditions made it no longer financially sustainable to sail with the 'Color Viking' on the route. Seajets will deliver the ferry, which has been docked at the Linö Shipyard Fayard in Odense since Nov 23, in Feb 2023. Where it will sail and what it will be called has not yet been announced.
Medevac in Sandefjord
The "Color Viking" has interrupted the voyage to Strømstad and returned to the quay in Sandefjord on July 28, 2019, at 7.20 p.m. after a person on board fell ill. The ferry had departed from Sandefjord at 5 p.m. The patient was transferred onto an ambulance, and the ferry resumed its sailing.
