In a dramatic encounter on August 10, a Panama-registered chemical tanker known as the Golden Topstar narrowly escaped a pirate attack while navigating through open waters. At approximately 1850 LT, the vessel found itself being pursued by a group of pirates operating in 12 skiffs. Displaying commendable seamanship, the crew of the Golden Topstar responded effectively by firing flares and executing evasive manoeuvres, successfully deterring the assailants.
