On April 4, 2019, a crew member aboard the crude oil tanker 'AST Sunshine' required urgent medical assistance, prompting the US Coast Guard to perform a medevac near Galveston, Texas. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston received an emergency call from the chief engineer detailing the situation. Following an assessment by the duty flight surgeon, the decision for a medevac was made swiftly. A response crew from Coast Guard Station Galveston utilized a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium to reach the vessel. Upon arrival, they successfully transferred the affected crewmember to emergency medical services personnel waiting at the station. Fortunately, the individual was reported to be in stable condition following the incident.
