The "Star Istind", enroute from Rotterdam to Gdynia, allided with the gate of the new northern lock of the Kiel Canal in Brunsbüttel on Feb 1, 2019, at 7.20 p.m. The lock was closed for ship traffic for damage investigations. At 8.10 pm. the bulkcarrier was permitted to proceed with the eastbound transit of the waterway, and also the lock could be re-opened. The ship arrived in Gdynia on Feb 3 at 11.50 a.m. and left the port again on Feb 6 4 a.m., next bound to Bremen, where it arrived on Feb 8 at 3 a.m.
