Coast Guard Conducts Medical Evacuation from 'YM Eminence' Near San Francisco
On February 13, 2018, the U.S. Coast Guard carried out a crucial medical evacuation approximately 55 nautical miles off the coast of San Francisco. A 35-year-old Taiwanese seafarer aboard the vessel 'YM Eminence' suffered a severe hand injury, prompting urgent assistance. Coast Guard Sector San Francisco received the distress call at around 5:30 a.m., indicating that the crew was struggling to manage the bleeding from the injured hand. In response, a team from Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco deployed an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter to the scene. By 8:30 a.m., the helicopter successfully arrived, hoisted the injured crew member aboard, and transported him to the San Francisco Fire Department’s Emergency Medical Services waiting at the air station for further medical care.
