The Sm-Kestrel: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

In the early hours of March 18, 2025, an incident occurred in Gibraltar's western anchorage when the LNG tanker 'SM Kestrel' experienced an allision with the anchored bulk carrier 'Diamond Star II' (IMO: 9449273). The incident took place at approximately 1 a.m. while the LNG tanker was maneuvering to depart the anchorage. Fortunately, neither vessel sustained significant damage, and there were no reported injuries or pollution resulting from the collision. Following the incident, both the 'SM Kestrel' and the 'Diamond Star II' remained at their respective anchorage positions. Surveyors from their respective Class and Flag will attend to the vessels at the earliest opportunity to assess the situation. Additionally, a Port State Control inspection by GMA surveyors is scheduled to take place promptly. As of March 20, the 'Diamond Star II' remained stationary at coordinates 36° 09' N, 005° 23' W, while the 'SM Kestrel' occupied the position at 36° 08' N, 005° 23' W.
