On February 10, 2025, the cargo ship 'Sky Rander' was detained at the port of Oristano, Italy, due to a total of 14 noted deficiencies, with ten classified as severe enough to warrant the detention. Among the serious issues identified were: broken atmosphere testing instruments critical for cargo operations, insufficient fire safety training for the crew, and non-compliant emergency power systems, specifically concerning the emergency generator. The safety of the enclosed space entry and rescue drills was also found lacking, alongside inadequate conditions of ballast and fuel tanks. Additionally, the vessel faced issues with life-saving appliances due to ineffective onboard training and instruction. The navigation systems were compromised with a malfunctioning magnetic compass and inoperative GNSS receiver, further exacerbated by a failure in the radio communication’s reserve energy source. Furthermore, the ISM certification was also deemed unsatisfactory. After addressing these critical discrepancies, the 'Sky Rander' was permitted to depart on February 17, setting its course for Castellon. On March 15, 2020, the cargo vessel 'Rova', en route from Rekefjord, encountered engine difficulties in the German Bight, just before reaching Wangerooge. In response to the emergency, the ship issued a call for tug assistance. The tugs 'Stella' and 'Florian' quickly arrived on the scene to tow the compromised vessel to Wilhelmshaven. At approximately 1:40 p.m., the 'Rova' was successfully docked at Rova Hafenumschlag GmbH, where repairs commenced. Following the necessary maintenance, the vessel departed from the port on March 17 at 5:35 p.m., resuming its journey to Rekefjord with an expected arrival date of March 19.
