Tinker Bell detained after allision
**Title: Tinker Bell Ferry Grounded Following Collision Incident in Trelleborg** In a concerning incident on March 23, the ferry 'Tinker Bell' was implicated in an allision with the 'Skåne', which was docked at the quay in Trelleborg. According to the Swedish Transport Agency's inspection report, the Tinker Bell had departed from the shipyard in Klaipeda under unsafe conditions, raising serious alarms about its seaworthiness. As a direct consequence of the allision, the ferry has remained sidelined in Trelleborg for over ten days. Regulatory authorities have officially barred the vessel from operating due to numerous identified deficiencies in its technology, safety systems, and overall working conditions aboard. These issues span a troubling array of 13 deficiencies, particularly concerning fire safety protocols in critical areas, including the engine rooms. Among the key findings were issues with the emergency power sources and the maintenance and inspection processes of life-saving equipment. Additionally, the report highlighted four deficient areas related to environmental compliance and the working conditions on board. This includes failures in health and safety protections, accident prevention measures, and insufficient accommodation and leisure facilities for crew members. The grounding of the Tinker Bell is in line with stipulations outlined in the Ship Safety Act, necessitating immediate remedial actions before it can be permitted to sail again. For those interested, here are some photographs of the 'Skåne' taken on March 19 in Warnemünde: - [Photo 1](https://www.shipspotting.com/photos/3950330?navList=gallery&category=39&page=1&viewType=normal&sortBy=newest) - [Photo 2](https://www.shipspotting.com/photos/3950329?navList=gallery&category=39&page=1&viewType=normal&sortBy=newest) - [Photo 3](https://www.shipspotting.com/photos/3950328?navList=gallery&category=39&page=1&viewType=normal&sortBy=newest) The Tinker Bell will remain in port until all necessary corrections and improvements are implemented, ensuring both passenger safety and regulatory compliance in maritime operations.
One ferry returned to service
**Title: Stena Line Ferry "Skåne" Resumes Service Amid Investigations into Collision Incident** In a positive development for ferry services, the Stena Line ferry "Skåne" officially resumed operations on March 13, following an incident that left it with noticeable damage. While the ferry is back on the route, the future of the "Tinker Bell" remains uncertain as it remains docked in Trelleborg, awaiting clarity on its status. Investigations conducted by maritime authorities and the classification society confirmed that, despite a pronounced dent on the "Skåne's" bow, no safety-related issues were found. This finding has allowed the vessel to return to its usual schedule without delay. The "Tinker Bell," which had recently arrived from a shipyard in Klaipėda, Lithuania, was operating without passengers at the time of the allision. This vessel was expected to begin its transit between Trelleborg and Travemünde, but the current situation poses a challenge for its service timeline. Swedish officials are actively probing the circumstances surrounding the collision, examining both ferries involved. Comprehensive assessments, including hull surveys conducted by divers, are being undertaken to ascertain the full extent of the damages. Early indications suggest that a technical defect in the steering system of the TT-Line ferry may have contributed to the incident. Allision in Trelleborg
**Title: Incident Involving Ferries in Trelleborg Port** **Content:** On March 11, 2026, at 1:30 p.m., an allision occurred in Trelleborg Port involving the ferry *Skåne*, which had 130 passengers on board, and *Tinker Bell*. The incident happened as *Tinker Bell*, recently returned from maintenance in Klaipeda, was entering the port and inadvertently collided with the docked *Skåne*, striking its port side bow. Emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene, with the Coast Guard on their way to assist. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries or oil leaks from either vessel. However, the *Skåne* sustained considerable damage to its bow above the waterline on the port side, prompting divers to be called in for an inspection of the hull for any potential underwater damage. By 4:30 p.m., all passengers and vehicles had been safely evacuated from the *Skåne*. Preliminary reports indicate that a technical failure aboard *Tinker Bell* led to a loss of steering, causing the collision. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident. TT-Line is collaborating closely with officials from both the port and relevant authorities. As of March 12, both ferries remained docked in Trelleborg while inspections were completed. Following thorough assessments, they were declared seaworthy, with the *Skåne* scheduled to resume its regular service to Rostock on March 13 at 3 p.m. For detailed reports, photos, and videos of the incident, visit the following links: - [Sveriges Radio](https://www.sverigesradio.se/artikel/farja-i-kollision-i-trelleborgs-hamn) - [Aftonbladet](https://www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/a/Rr77qd/aftonbladet-direkt?pinnedEntry=1450751) - [SVT Nyheter](https://www.svt.se/nyheter/lokalt/skane/farja-i-kollision-i-trelleborgs-hamn) - [Facebook Reel](https://www.facebook.com/reel/1206290824623975) - [NDR](https://www.ndr.de/nachrichten/mecklenburg-vorpommern/trelleborg-faehre-skane-kann-nach-kollision-wieder-nach-rostock-fahren,trelleborg-100.html)
Medevac off Warnemünde
**Title: Urgent Medevac Operation Off the Coast of Warnemünde** On the night of March 3, 2026, a critical medevac operation unfolded involving the ferry 'Skåne', which was traveling from Rostock to Trelleborg. At approximately 1:30 a.m., the ferry's captain alerted the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Bremen under the German Maritime Search and Rescue Association (DGzRS) about a serious medical emergency concerning a 61-year-old crew member. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the MRCC promptly dispatched the lifeboat 'Arkona' from the Warnemünde station and called for additional medical support. An emergency physician, accompanied by two paramedics from the Rostock Fire Department, joined the sea rescuers for this critical mission. In response to the emergency, the 'Skåne' swiftly altered its course and headed towards the lifeboat at maximum speed. Approximately 4.5 nautical miles offshore, the emergency physician was skillfully transferred from the 'Arkona' to the ferry via a pilot ladder. After evaluating the patient’s condition for transport, he was safely brought aboard the lifeboat just before 3:00 a.m. Thanks to the calm seas and a bright moonlit night, the transfer proceeded without complications. The medical team on the 'Arkona' provided necessary care to the patient during the journey back to shore. By around 3:30 a.m., he was handed over to an ambulance in Rostock for further medical attention at the hospital. Following the successful medevac, the 'Skåne' resumed its voyage to Trelleborg, marking yet another effective collaboration between maritime authorities and emergency services in safeguarding lives at sea.
Search for missing passenger ended without success
An international SAR operation in the Baltic Sea has ended without success after a Polish passenger fell overboard from thr ' Skania' near the port of Sassnitz on Dec 28, 2025, while enroute from Ystad to the port of Świnoujście. The crew issued a ‘man overboard’ alert following a witness report that one of the passengers had ended up in the water. The search operation began at around 4 p.m. and involved emergency services from Poland, Germany, Denmark and Sweden. Poland’s Maritime SAR Service dispatched a helicopter from the coastal town of Darłowo, but it did not reach the search area before the operation was called off. The sea conditions were poor, describing the weather as post-storm. The search was ended at 6:21 p.m. after lasting several hours. Also the ferry 'Polonia', which had been in the vicinity, also took part in the operation. After several hours of delay, the 'Skania' arrived in Świnoujście without the missing passenger.
Drunken skipper allided with pier, obstructed ferry manoever and was caught drunk two days later again
On the evening of Aug 13, 2025, the drunken skipper of a sailing yacht allided with the pier in the Rostock seaport. The officer on watch of a cargo ship observed this at around 8:10 p.m. The 54 year old skipper, apparently unfit to drive, subsequently obstructed the approaching 'Skåne' as it turned for the berthing manoever. The Rostock Water Police arrested the skipper and conducted a breathalyzer test ashore. The test resulted in a blood alcohol level of 3.12 per mille. The 54-year-old German citizen subsequently had to submit to a blood sample. The railing on his boat was bent. The Water Police have opened criminal proceedings and are investigating on suspicion of endangering shipping. On the afternoon of Aug 15, the same sailboat, while anchored in the Dierkow Bay was drifting toward the Holz Peninsula. Attentive passersby were able to wake the sleeping skipper by shouting and initially manually secure the approximately 8-meter-long boat to the pier, the breathalyzer test conducted on the man, revealed a blood alcohol level of 1.06 per mille.
Ferry was cleared due to bomb alert
Because of a bomb alert, the "Skåne" was cleared in the evening of Feb 1, 2017, in Trelleborg just before the departure to Rostock. The alert later turned out to be unfounded. A box had been found in a cabin of the ferry which could not be assigned to anybody. At the time of the evacuation, 80 passengers and 40 crew members had been on board. Experts from the police had investigated the crate and with a four-hour delay, the ship left Trelleborg with 214 passengers aboard at 2 a.m. The captain was able to make up for two hours, thanks to a speedy ride on his way to Rostock where the ship berthed on Feb 2 at 8 a.m. Swedish report with photos: http://www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/a/XkX3m/passagerarfarja-evakuerad-efter-larm
