On February 9, 2021, the United States Coast Guard successfully executed a medevac for a 53-year-old crew member aboard the tanker 'Karvounis', located approximately nine miles from Corpus Christi, Texas. The emergency response began at 2:14 p.m. when the vessel's crew reached out for assistance via cell phone, reporting alarming symptoms indicative of a potential stroke. In response, the Coast Guard’s Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi mobilized an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew alongside a 45-foot Response Boat–Medium from Station Port Aransas for immediate support. Additionally, an HC-144A Ocean Sentry aircraft was dispatched to oversee the situation from above and facilitate communication. Upon arrival at the tanker, the RB-M crew swiftly assisted the affected crew member, subsequently transporting him to Station Port Aransas. There, emergency medical services were on standby to provide the necessary care. This timely intervention exemplifies the Coast Guard's commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of maritime personnel in distress.
