Search Operations for Missing Worker from Noble Lloyd Noble Installation Reduced

May 10, 2017 12:24

The search efforts for a missing worker from the Noble Lloyd Noble installation have been adjusted following an extensive operation that commenced on May 9, 2017, at 9:20 p.m., near the Mariner Field, roughly 90 miles east of Shetland. Initial efforts to locate the individual onboard the rig proved unsuccessful, prompting a coordinated search involving air and sea assets. A Coastguard search and rescue helicopter was deployed to the area but later returned to base after no leads emerged. Meanwhile, two standby vessels and a platform supply vessel persisted in their search operations. In response to the situation, Noble Drilling announced they had activated emergency response teams based in Aberdeen and Stavanger to bolster the search initiatives. Statoil’s vessels also played a crucial role in the water search surrounding the rig, demonstrating their commitment to supporting the rescue operations. As the search progressed, operations on the rig were halted and led by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), which utilized a combination of air and sea resources, including the aforementioned helicopter and support vessels. Recently, the search efforts have been scaled down due to the ongoing assessments of the situation.
