Detention in Aliaga

Apr 20, 2026 10:47

**Title: 'Shaman' Detained and Released in Aliaga Due to Safety Deficiencies** On April 16, 2026, the vessel 'Shaman' faced detention in the port of Aliaga due to a series of serious safety deficiencies. A thorough inspection revealed a total of 11 deficiencies on board, with four classified as critical enough to necessitate the vessel's detention by maritime authorities. The identified serious issues include: 1. **Fire Safety Concerns**: The jacketed high-pressure lines were found to be inoperative, along with inadequacies in the oil leakage alarm system. 2. **Fire Safety Compliance**: Several fire doors and openings within fire-resisting divisions did not meet regulatory requirements. 3. **Water and Weather Tightness**: Ventilators, air pipes, and their respective casings were deemed not up to standard. 4. **Living and Working Conditions**: The cleanliness of the engine room was reported as insufficient, presenting potential hazards for the crew's working environment. The vessel's safety management system is overseen by Marlin Denizcilik Teknik Danismanlik Hizmetleri Ltd. Sti., the ISM company responsible for ensuring compliance with maritime safety regulations. Following the necessary rectifications, 'Shaman' was released from detention on April 17 and resumed its journey, setting sail from the port with its next destination set for the Sea of Azov, with an estimated time of arrival on April 23.
