Seaboard Ranger Comes to Aid of Stranded Haitian Fishing Vessel
On June 11, 2013, the Seventh Coast Guard District command center received a crucial report from the vessel 'Seaboard Ranger', which had encountered a 50-foot Haitian-flagged fishing vessel named 'Hunter' in distress. This fishing boat, carrying 15 individuals, had lost power and was left adrift in the waters. The 'Seaboard Ranger' promptly stayed on the scene until the arrival of the Coast Guard Cutter 'Northland'. The 'Northland' expertly evacuated the crew from the dangerously unstable vessel, ensuring their safety throughout the night. On June 13, the cutter successfully transported the fishermen to Cap Haitien, Haiti. Subsequently, Coast Guard Cutter 'Oak' arrived to tow the disabled 'Hunter' back to Haitian shores.
