In a significant move to bolster its shipping portfolio, Greek maritime company Euroseas has announced it has entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to acquire four feeder containerships from the Pittas family, led by chairman Aristides Pittas. The transaction will involve a cash payment of $15 million alongside the issuance of approximately 22.5 million shares, equating to 64.3% of Euroseas’ total outstanding common shares, to the sellers of the vessels: EM Hydra, EM Spetses, EM Kea, and Diamantis P. To facilitate the cash payment, Euroseas plans to utilize bank debt, which will also address the existing debt tied to these vessels. Upon completion of this acquisition, Euroseas will expand its fleet to a total of 15 container vessels, enhancing its operational capabilities in the competitive maritime landscape.
