Ferry in collision with navigation buoy
The master of the "Red Jet" quit his job after the Ferry collided with the Hythe Knock buoy on Oct 3, 2013. A Red Funnel investigation concluded the collision was the result of human error. It has led to serious disruption for passengers, with Red Funnel forced to operate a one vessel service, leaving the Isle of Wight every hour, at quarter past the hour. The "Red Jet 4" should be back in service, after a shortened refit, next week and a normal timetable should be restored on Oct 16.
