On August 31, 2025, Houthi rebels announced their involvement in an attack on the Israeli-owned tanker 'Scarlet Ray' in the vicinity of Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. The vessel had set out from Yanbu Industrial City just five days prior, on August 26, 2025. While the missile assault was corroborated, fortunately, the tanker itself was not struck directly; however, an explosion was reported in close proximity to the ship. The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), a British monitoring center, confirmed that the crew remained unharmed and that the 'Scarlet Ray' was able to proceed with its maritime operations without serious interruption. Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into this incident, and UKMTO has cautioned all vessels navigating near the area to maintain heightened vigilance and safety protocols.
