Volga-Caspian Canal closed after Sarina runs aground
July 10 the Iran-flagged m/v “Sarina” operated by Khazar Sea Shipping Liners ran aground in the Volga-Caspian Canal. The ship was going to the Caspian to the port of Olya. The ship was turned round across the canal closing the fairway. Ship traffic was suspended. No damage to the ship or oil spill is reported. The ship owner is to decide on the salvage operation as the ship has been unable to get afloat on its own.
