Tanker saved 242 distressed migrants
The crew of the "Clipper Hebe" saved 242 migrants in the Mediterranean Sea in the morning of June 3, 2016, while enroute to Sicily, and was taking them to Italy. They were contacted by the Italian Coastguard in the evening of June 2 and asked to assist. The loaded tanker initially was waiting for a supply boat to arrive, but before it came, the boat overturned in the morning hours. The situation was now under control and several of the refugees on board were now cooking with the crew in the galley of the tanker after the rescue operation was chaotic and stressful.
