Major Cocaine Bust at Caldera: 47 Kilos Found on 'Cap Palmerston'
In a significant drug enforcement operation, the Drug Control Police (PCD) of the Ministry of Public Security uncovered a substantial cocaine shipment affixed to the hull of the 'Cap Palmerston' in Caldera de Esparza, Punta Arenas. The illegal cargo, which weighed 47 kilos, was cleverly concealed within a compartment referred to as a 'parasite'. Divers conducting a thorough inspection on January 13, 2018, identified an anomaly in the hull of the vessel that had recently arrived from Colombia, prompting immediate notification of the PCD. Following this tip-off, agents swiftly verified the presence of the cocaine stash. Fortunately, there were no arrests made during this operation. The 'Cap Palmerston' had previously docked after transporting 206 containers from San Buenaventura, Colombia, and departed again on January 14.
