On May 20, 2019, at 9 a.m., the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency took action against the vessel 'Saiq' for unauthorized anchoring. The ship had been illegally anchored since May 16, 2019, approximately 10 nautical miles south of Pulau Jarak, within Malaysian territorial waters. The detention involved 25 crew members hailing from diverse countries, including Pakistan, India, Russia, Oman, and Montenegro, all aged between 20 and 65 years. The captain of the 'Saiq' was unable to provide the necessary permission documents from the Director General of the Marine Department, resulting in their arrest for further investigation under the Merchant Shipping Ordinance 1952.

On June 15, 2012, volunteers from Port Elizabeth were alerted for a potential medical evacuation after the vessel 'Saiq', en route from Angola to Mauritius, requested urgent assistance. The ship's 2nd Officer, a national from India, was experiencing severe abdominal pain, necessitating his urgent removal from the ship. The Transnet National Ports Authority activated the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) following a recommendation from the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC), which coordinated with the Government Health Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to monitor the officer's condition. The sea conditions were favorable at the time, with calm waters and no wind, facilitating the operation. At 2:50 p.m., the NSRI Port Elizabeth deployed the lifeboat 'Spirit of Toft' to rendezvous with the 'Saiq', located eight nautical miles off Cape Recife. Upon reaching the vessel, NSRI medics boarded the ship to assess the patient's condition. After a successful transfer to the lifeboat, the officer was brought back to the NSRI base, where he was promptly placed into a Guardmed ambulance for further treatment at the nearest hospital, all while in stable condition.
