The Sagami: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

On December 5, 2020, the United States Coast Guard officially halted its search efforts for a missing crew member of the tanker 'Sagami.' The extensive search operation spanned over 2,823 square miles and lasted for 48 hours, utilizing the resources of four aircraft and two vessels. The initial distress signal was received by Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston on the evening of November 3, when reports emerged of a 27-year-old male crew member who fell overboard while rigging an accommodation ladder. In response, watchstanders swiftly issued an urgent marine information broadcast and deployed a crew from Coast Guard Station Sabine aboard a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium, alongside an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Houston. The last known sighting of the missing individual was while he was wearing an orange work flotation vest and coveralls equipped with reflective tape. Multiple Coast Guard units played a role in the extensive search, including the following: Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston, Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi, Air Station Houston, Station Sabine, and Coast Guard Cutter Alligator.
