On September 11, 2024, at approximately 8:00 AM, a serious maritime incident unfolded when the container ship 'Pacific Grace' collided with the fishing vessel 'QNa-95221 TS'. The accident occurred at coordinates 16.13 N 108.29 E, approximately 10.25 nautical miles east-northeast of Cape Son Tra. There were eight fishermen onboard the 'QNa-95221 TS' during the collision. Thankfully, the crew of the 'Pacific Grace' acted promptly and coordinated with two local fishing boats from the Binh Minh commune in Thang Binh district to rescue the fishermen. By 10:30 AM, all eight individuals were safely retrieved. However, the fishing vessel sustained extensive damage and subsequently sank. The 'Pacific Grace' continued its voyage and arrived in Hai Phong the following day, September 12, at 7:30 AM. In response to the incident, the Quang Nam Provincial Border Guard Command took immediate action, directing the Cua Dai Border Guard Station in Hoi An and the Binh Minh Border Guard Station in Thang Binh District to aid in the situation.
