Three freighters stuck in Volga ice
Three freighters got stuck in ice on Dec 19, 2016, at 2.15 p.m. on the Volga at km mark 2969, while sailing downstream to Astrakhan. The trapped ships were the "Orel 4", "Elegance" and "Terek 1". No damages were reported, and the owners already contracted an icebreaker to free the vessels.
Grounding on the Volga
On June 13, 2014, or in the evening June 12 general the "Orel-4" ran aground on the Volga at km mark 2797 in the Astrakhan Region, while en route to Astrakhan with 2870 tons of grain on board, Odin.tc reports. The vessel got stuck at the edge of the fairway, no damages were reported, the traffic was not affected.
