Harns CV to be fined for one of its ships steering too close to reef

The owners of the "Onego Trader" were facing fines up to $140,000 for steering too close to the protected reefs around Carysfort Reef on June 15, 2013, having been two miles from the Area to Be Avoided (ATBA) off the reef. The vessel should have been at least four miles offshore from Carysfort Reef. The captain was issued a federal citation for violating the ATBA, which can result in a civil penalty of up to $140,000.
