RESCOP critizised transit of Strait of Gibraltar with ammunition destined to Israel

Oct 22, 2025 11:53

The 'Ocean Gladiator' has crossed the Strait of Gibraltar on Oct 22, 2025, en route from Sunny Point, where it sailed on Oct 9, to Limassol (Cyprus), with an ETA as of Oct 30. The transit through the Strait has sparked international controversy. The State Network Against the Occupation of Palestine (RESCOP) has denounced the ship's passage through Spanish territorial waters, stating that it was carrying 563 tons of ammunition destined for Israel. The organization echoed an investigation published by The Ditch, which described the operation as "the largest ammunition shipment in history." According to the publication, the ship departed from the port of Paulsboro, New Jersey, with the cargo being destined for the Israeli military supplier Elbit Systems, one of the main contractors for the Israel Defense Forces. RESCOP considered the 'Ocean Gladiator's transit a violation of international norms. The network has demanded that the Spanish government deny the ship passage through national waters and prohibit its access to port services.
