What Crew Members Say About Ocean-Aquila

On Aug 9, at 2.40 p.m. a fire broke out aboard the 'Ocean Aquila', and emergency services were called to the position east of Burra Isle. The fire was swiftly brought under control. and all crew members were safe and well. Shetland's Coastguard Rescue Helicopter spotted the fire whilst on a training exercise, and stayed overhead for some time to monitor the situation. The Aith Lifeboat was now on it's way to Clift Sound to supervise the towing operation. The ship was towed into the port of Scalloway in the evening.

The Oban lifeboat launched in the afternoon of March 13 to assist the "Ronja Skye" that suffered an engine fire. While the RNLI volunteer crew were making their way to the fish carrier, they were informed that the fire had been extinguished and no one was injured, but the vessel had suffered a full engine failure. The CalMac ferry, "Isle of Mull" diverted course to stand by, along with a local work boat which had already attempted to establish a tow. The lifeboat arrived on scene by 2.21 p.m. to find the "Ronja Skye" west of Lismore lighthouse and in danger of drifting closer to shore. The Oban RNLI established a tow and proceeded to a safe area for the Ronja Skye to drop anchor to allow for repairs.
