Second Turkish ship passes Strait of Hormuz
**Title: Turkish Merchant Vessels Successfully Navigate the Strait of Hormuz** In a significant development for international shipping, Turkish authorities have announced the successful transit of a second merchant vessel through the crucial Strait of Hormuz. The ships in question, the 'Neraki' and 'Rosanba,' are owned by Turkish companies and have managed to navigate this strategically vital waterway amidst challenging geopolitical conditions. Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu attributed this achievement to proactive political initiatives and direct negotiations with involved parties. He highlighted that the current status of vessels utilizing Iranian ports, or those transporting goods with connections to Tehran, facilitated the procurement of essential permits for passage through the strait. This milestone is particularly noteworthy as a total of 15 Turkish-owned ships had been awaiting transit since February 28, 2026. The first vessel received authorization to pass on March 13, thanks to direct approval from Iranian authorities. While Minister Uraloğlu did not disclose the specific timing of the second vessel’s successful transit, he did confirm that the operation was accomplished without incident. Ankara is actively working to bolster its supply chains and safeguard the interests of Turkish shipowners through open diplomatic channels with all stakeholders involved. This initiative is timely, as the international shipping community grapples with severe disruptions, rising insurance premiums, and escalating military risks that have raised concerns over the potential permanent closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical artery for global trade.
