Antje Wulff Sets Sail After Long Lay-Up for New Charter
The container ship Antje Wulff, which has been idle in Tor Bay since February 16, 2014, embarked on a new journey on April 12, 2014, heading for Rotterdam. The vessel has secured a one-year time charter with CMA CGM, valued at $6,700 per day, and will serve as a replacement for the Maersk Patras on the Maersk TA4/St Laurent 1 service, connecting Northern Europe to Canada. This service comprises a four-vessel loop that takes 28 days, with key ports including Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Antwerp, Montreal, and Halifax. Previously, CMA CGM had a slot charter agreement with Maersk for this route. Although the Antje Wulff has a slightly lower TEU capacity than the Maersk trio—Maersk Palermo, Maersk Penang, and Maersk Pembroke—it is equipped with a greater number of reefer plugs. The ship is expected to dock in Rotterdam on April 13 and will depart the following day for Bremerhaven.
