Container ship rescued 62 boat people
On Nov 15,, 2022, the 'MSC Cadiz', en route from Aliaga to Valencia, rescued 62 people from a sailboat that had issued a distress call near the island of Kos. The boat had begun taking in water in the eastern in rough seas near the remote island of Syrna, south of the island of Kos. The container ship diverted to the scene and began the rescue. The crew safely collected a total of 62 migrants, whom they transferred to a patrol boat off Akrotiri. They were transferred to the Closed and Controlled Migrant Center in Kos. A preliminary investigation was being carried out by the Kos Port Authority.
