The "Sandwig" suffered a fire in cargo hold No.1, while drifting off Rio Haina, Dominican Republic, waiting to enter the port,on Sep 22, 2018, at 9 a.m, One crew member was severely injured and was evacuated to a hospital in Santo Domingo. The vessel was berthed in Rio Haina portat 1.30 p.m., and the fire was eventually brought under control and extinguished by the local fire department the same evening. The vessel remained at Rio Haina port for class inspections and forensic fire investigations and sailed again on Sep 27 at 5 p.m.
