Captain and company fined for illegal fish dumping
The "Melkart II" was seized and escorted to Tromsø by the Coast Guard vessel "Nordkapp" on July 25, 2012, due to a suspicion of illegal dumping of fish in the fisheries protection zone around Svalbard, and for failing to report the position and the catch to the fisheries directorate. The case is investigated by the police Tromsø. The Russian captain was fined with 20,000 Norwegian Crowns and the Russian company JSC Murman Seafood with 430,000 Crowns.
