Crew discovered four stowaways in A Coruña
The crew of the 'Marley' discovered four stowaways of Kosovar Albanian origin who were hiding inside the ship in the morning of May 27, 2021, before the ship left the port of A Coruña. They had sneaked into the port at dawn and then got on board, intending to get to the United Kingdom. However, the ship was headed to Morocco, so it was possible that they were confused in their attempt to reach other countries. The 'Marley' had made a stop at the Calvo Sotelo pier coming from Bayonne on May 25. The crew alerted the police. and the officers of the National Police took charge of the four people. Technically, they cannot be considered stowaways since the ship had not moved from the port when they were discovered. An administrative sanction has been launched.
Crew of Ardesco stranded in Gibraltar
The crews of the "Ardesco" has been stranded in Gibraltar since June 6, 2013, whilst their owners go through company insolvency issues. The vessel was part of a trio of ships affected by the insolvency of German company, Seavoss Schiffahrt GmbH & Co. The men working on board the ship have not been paid since February, with one crew member not being paid since December last year. According to Captain Rosic no one from Seavoss Schiffahrt GmbH & Co, responded to their emails, phone calls and questions. They were simply being ignored. The eight on board "Ardesco"were not covered by any insurance as the company’s insurance on the vessel and the crew expired a month ago. Thanks to local agent Tarik Shipping Agency and Bunkering the men have received fresh supplies. Using a rescue boat to get ashore the men now have access to other essentials not provided by Tarik Shipping. All of the crew members can come ashore in Gibraltar, but some do not have the correct travel documents to enter Spain. In June, all communications to the vessels were cut due to non-payment of bills, leaving the men with no access to the internet or phone line. CThe men were using their own phones to send emails and keep up communications with their worried families. Most of the crew have completed their contracts and were not able to leave the ships because of unpaid wages and repatriations. Some crew members have not been home or seen their family in 14 months.
